solo theatrical audio-tour

Unauthorised Audio Tours of Te Papa

Te Papa Walkthrough Levels 4, 5, and 6
A surreal wander through our national museum, touching on everything except the exhibits.
ABOUT THE PROJECT

A forty-minute audio tour featuring spy games, informed speculation, time travel and evasive manoeuvres.  Just watch out for the red-shirts ...‍

A solo experience to be enjoyed anytime using your smartphone as an .mp3 player. This was the first in a series of audio-based works we made over several years – independent audio tours that offer an alternative take on familiar spaces. Think ‘site-specific theatrical podcast’.

Unfortunately Te Papa changed their exhibitions, so this tour is no longer workable in the museum. Still worth a listen though?

Written and performed by Ralph Upton and Joel Baxendale‍

Production and sound design by Gareth Hobbs

Developed in 2014. Rendered obsolete by gallery development in 2017.

40 minute experience using audiences own device and headphones.
