Durational improvised performance

Break Up

We Need to Talk
There’s no easy way to do this … Five performers, five hours, one inescapable conversation.
ABOUT THE PROJECT

Join us as we lovingly create and destroy an entire relationship from scratch. Come and go as you please to witness the desperation, negotiation and emotional blackmail.

Break Up is a durational work in which the performers are bound by strict rules that dictate how they may speak. Four people, making up the back row, play one character. A single performer in the front chair play the second. The back row performers take turns to speak, passing the role along the line every time they are interrupted by the front character. Every hour, a new performer swaps in to play the front character.Within this tight framework, we do our best to create real characters, truthful conflicts and consistent details over 5 hours.

Performed (in order of appearances) by Ralph Upton, Joel Baxendale, Fiona McNamara, Rachel Baker, Oliver Devlin, Gareth Hobbs, Claire O'Loughlin, Simon Haren
